There’s been fresh snowfall over the past few days on mountain tops in North America.

Although August snowfalls are fairly normal at these altitudes, with summer nearing its end the fresh snow has raised anticipation for the winter ahead.

Resorts including Revelstoke and Kicking Horse in BC posted fresh snow pictures on their social media feeds.

The snow in British Columbia followed snow in the Colorado Rockies at the weekend with many resorts there (including Steamboat, below), also posting pictures.

There was snow in Europe last week too on the glacier ski areas of Norway (including Fonna, below) and snow is continuing to fall in the southern hemisphere where the 2016 season continues in to September.  Some ski areas in Australia have had 15cm of fresh snow in the last few days and there’s also been snow in Southern Africa at Tiffindell ski area.
