Cortina d’Ampezzo not only boasts one of the world’s best ski areas but is also, famously, one of the planet’s most stylish resorts – many visitors roll up just to shop and enjoy la dolce vita, taking in the stunning scenery that surrounds ‘The queen of the Dolomites’ without indulging in snow sports.
Fortunately it’s perfectly possible to do both and Cortina celebrates both of these aspects of its identity with the Cortina Fashion Weekend, which is back for the fifth time this season. In fact it’s proven so popular its now the Cortina Fashion Week running from 5th to 9th December
This year the most glamorous event in the Dolomites will be devoted to Outdoor Fashion as Italy’s top mountain destination pays homage to the outdoor style which is currently also trending in the city.
Every year, the December bank holiday weekend (of the Immaculate Conception) in Cortina features an ever growing number of Italian and international events, including exhibitions, fashion shows and previews.
True to tradition, Sunday evening (December 6) will feature Fashion Night with late-night shopping, music, DJs, aperitifs and special events in Cortina’s shops, boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, museums and night-spots.
In addition this year the Barbara Cappochin International Architecture Prize brings a special guest to Cortina, the Olympic figure skater Carolina Kostner, who is set to thrill audiences with her performance on the ice of the Olympic Ice Stadium.
