Tignes has announced it will be creating an all new terrain park for summer skiers and boarders this year.
The resort will initially offer limited summer skiing for two weeks from June 21st to July 4th before fully opening with a dozen lifts, 20 runs and the new terrain park open on July 5th. It will then remain open through to August 3rd.
As an added attraction this summer, the resort is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Grande Motte glacier where summer skiing and boarding now takes place on August 5th. Mountain guide are offering accompanied ascents to the summit this summer to.
Tignes is one of four French ski areas that offer summer snowsports, although each operates over a different 4 – 8 week period between June and August. First to open is Val d’Isere, followed by Les 2 Alps and Tignes, then finally Alpe d’Huez.
