A Canadian man living in the USA has gone skiing each month for 23 years, a total of 280 straight months.

Software engineer Danny Miller has been skiing monthly since 1993 at ski areas on the Pacific Northwest in Canada and the USA, using lifts in the ski season and hiking up out of season.

Miller told The Seattle Times that he started off hiking up in alpine ski boots originally but that equipment had improved over the years and that he now used ski touring equipment. Snow conditions and weather forecasts had also improved dramatically.

He said that far more people now hiked up like he did but that climate change meant he had to hike higher than he used to in order to reach the snow. His target each month is to find at least 100m of skiable vertical.

Miller, now 49, told The Seattle Times he had no plans to stop, but would do when it stopped being fun. “I’m not the best skier, just the most stubborn,” he said.
