Prices for lift tickets for the 360km of piste that link Cervinia and Valtournenche in Italy to Zermatt in Switzerland have been published for the 2013-14 ski season.

When purchased on the Italian side a six day adult pass for the area costs from 232 to 272 Euros or approximately £200 to £234 pounds at current exchange rates, depending on which period you visit.

When purchased on the Swiss side the ticket for the same area costs 423 Swiss Francs – approximately £296 pounds – throughout the season.

The lowest prices for Cervinia-based purchasers are ‘PRESKI’ from 19th October to 20th December 2013 with ‘SPRINGSKI’ at the end of the season from 7th April to 4th May 2014 also heavily discounted, but not quite so much.

“International tickets purchased in Italy cannot be used departing from Switzerland at the beginning of the day,” say the T&Cs “Prices subject to variation depending on exchange rate € / CHF.”

However prices for children are lower most of the time,  if purchased on the Swiss side.  Children aged up to 10 do not pay at all, and from ages 10 to 16 pay 261 Swiss Francs – approximately £183.

In Italy children pay for a child ticket from age eight to 11 (free to age seven inclusive) then the full adult price from age 12.  Child six day pass prices are 139.50 to 161.50 Euros (approximately 120 to 139 pounds) depending on the time of season you visit.

So children aged up to seven are free on both sides, from age eight to nine they’re still free in Zermatt, from 10 to  11 they pay a lower child price in Cervinia than in Zermatt, then from age 12 to 16 the Zermatt child price is lower than the Cervinia adult price payable.
