In his workshop here in the Alps, Matthew, working under the name Mountain Atelier, creates his unique decorations and artworks from paper, wood and glass.

Life In Pics : Mountain Atelier
The work ranges from intricate paper scenes painstakingly cut out with a scalpel to wooden decorations and ornaments and etched glassware, all with an Alpine character stemming from a love of the mountains.

Life In Pics : Mountain Atelier
Having spent the last 5 years chasing the snow, working in ski shops to fuel a passion for skiing and mountain sports, Matthew found a home in the French Alps and the inspiration for his artwork followed. That inspiration can be seen clearly in Mountain Atelier’s output, from the geometric forms in the woodwork to the mountain scenes in his paper-cuts and prints and even to the extent of using recycled skis and other equipment as a canvas.

With this Alpine strain running through the work, Mountain Atelier seeks to make interesting decorative art to be enjoyed by and that speaks to fellow lovers of the mountains, coming from that shared passion for snow and the mountain lifestyle.
