Three of Scotland’s five ski areas were open this weekend thanks in part to the low temperatures and the fresh snow that has fallen over the past few days.

Cairngorm had been open for several weekends already with limited unpisted terrain but it now offering a fully groomed run from top to bottom and has opened additional lifts as well as more terrain.

The two other Easterly ski areas, Glenshee and the Lecht also opened some terrain.

In all three cases conditions were mixed with heavy snow showers bringing in white out conditions on occasions, but in all cases snow quality was very good light powder.

On the west coast Nevis Range, which has expanded ski hire this winter, has announced it will complete its annual maintenance closure earlier than expected and open next weekend on December 4th.

The fifth area, Glencoe, reports snow conditions are looking good but it has not yet said when it will open.
