Following three successful years at The Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Show, the team from ‘Getting into Off-Piste and Backcountry’ talks has launched a one-off event at Chel-Ski, London.

Hosted by Rob Stewart of Ski Press, the questions will be fired at Richard Barker of Kicking Horse Powder Tours and David Robertson of Action Outdoors – both highly experienced off-piste skiers.

The evening is set to be a real off-piste information feast with guest speakers, the latest off-piste gear on show from Ellis Brigham, professional insurance advice, ski fitness tips and even smart apps for help edit your off-piste ski films.

Topics covered will include where to go, who to ski with, what equipment to use, why you’d want to try skiing off-piste and expectations on the levels of safety that should be considered. The talk will also delve into the growing sector of ski touring, explaining the differences between lift accessed off-piste and terrain earned by your own steam.

It’s aimed at all levels of skier and snowboarder, from those looking to get off piste for the first time to the most seasoned ski tourer.

There’ll be plenty of prize giveaways on the night too.

Richard Barker comments: “The talk is a really broad introduction to off-piste skiing and if anyone is considering heading away from the marked runs this winter then we hope they will come along. For the more experienced, there’s plenty to] get stuck into with equipment, apps, fitness advice and perhaps some hints and tips that might just add a little extra to the off-piste armoury”.

David Robertson comments: “We want to give people the tools to consider what they do off-piste this winter and whilst this isn’t some kind of course that qualifies people to go off into the mountains, it will provide the kind of information skiers need to make informed choices about if they want to ski off-piste and who they should go with”.
