Delancey British Alpine Ski Team athlete Alex Tilley (pictured above) will tackle her second FIS Alpine World Cup of the season this weekend in Aspen, Colorado and the races will be shown on Eurosport in the UK.

After a promising start in the opening World Cup GS in Soelden, where Tilley skied out in the second run after storming the first run, she is ready to get back in the start gate: “I’m really excited to start racing again after nearly a month break since Soelden. I’ll be racing the Giant Slalom and two Slaloms in Aspen where I am aiming to make top 30s. I hope to add to the encouraging start from Soelden after qualifying for the second run of a World Cup for the first time. I am much more confident about where I am in my skiing at the moment and hope I can use that to my advantage and perform well when it matters.”

You can follow Alex Tilley racing on Friday 27th November, with the first run starting at 17.00 GMT (On British Eurosport at 19.00 – recorded) and the second run at 20.00 GMT (On British Eurosport at 20.15 – live).

After the cancellation of the opening FIS Men’s World Cup Slalom, which was due to take place in Levi, Finland, Dave Ryding has had to wait to get stuck in to his World Cup campaign. Ryding will now kick off his winter season by taking on two Europa Cup Slaloms, in Hemsedal, Norway, on 2nd & 3rd December. He will be joined in Hemsedal by Overall Delancey British Alpine Champion Max Baggio and team mate Ollie Davies, who will both compete in the Slalom, before heading to Trysil for the Men’s Giant Slalom Europa Cup 5th & 6th December. Ryding is then due to compete in his first Slalom World Cup on 13th December in Val d’Isere.

Ryding said ahead of the season: “It’s always an anxious time of the year coming into the race season. I have worked on my technique a lot over the summer to help me on the demanding slopes in the World Cup. For the first races I have to really focus on all the things I have been working on over the summer, and make sure I put what I’ve got out there in the races. I am looking forward to the challenge of cementing a place in the top 30. It won’t be easy but I have prepared well.’

Trysil will also be the setting for Charlie Guest and Cara Brown to take on their first Europa Cup of the season, alongside Alex Tilley, on 7th & 8th December (GS and Slalom).  Charlie and Cara will then head to Kvitfjell, Norway for the Giant Slalom, Super G and Alpine Combined Europa Cup from 10th – 12th December. The races will be a good test for Guest who sustained a back injury almost a year ago. Alex Tilley will then go on to race in the World Cup in Are, Sweden on 12th & 13th December.

This weekend is also the first Telemark World Cup of the Season, where Jasmin Taylor will compete for Great Britain in Hintertux. Taylor will be joined by team mates Jasper Taylor, James French, Fred Thomas, Louis Hatchwell, as well as Sion Bingham and Robert Houstoun from the British Development Squad. Also representing Great Britain will be Alistair Cruz-Mermy, Alec Dixon and Colin Dixon. All will be looking to make their mark on the World Cup circuit. Racing begins on Friday with the Sprint, followed by a Parallel Sprint on Saturday and Sunday.

The 2015/16 season promises to be another busy winter for the Alpine team, culminating in the Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships from 20th March to 1st April 2016. For the second year running the Championships will return to its host resort of Tignes in France, maintaining its place as the highlight event on the British Alpine Skiing calendar.

The full schedules for the senior Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships can be found here and the children’s Championships here.

Reigning Ladies’ Delancey British Alpine Champion Cara Brown said about the Championships: “The Delancey British Alpine Champs is one of the biggest events on my winter calendar. They bring together the best of British ski racing and are a challenging, exciting and fun week of racing. It’s great to be able to compare yourself to the other skiers in Britain and winning a trophy that you can put your name on forever is pretty cool! When I first started at the Champs I was at the bottom of the pack and it was brilliant to be racing against the top athletes in Britain to try and catch them. It definitely drove me to ski faster and hopefully now some of the younger girls are out to catch me too!
