This autumn Arosa Lenzerheide in Switzerland is aiming to be one of the earliest non-glacier ski areas in the world to open for snow sports, but it’s not just about skiing!

The new November High initiative at Arosa Lenzerheide, launching on Saturday 29th October, is all about celebrating the last full month before winter in the mountains. If snow and weather conditions permit it means downhill and crops-country skiing (and because the area has such a good snow record, it will only be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year that could threaten that), but it’s also about other activities like biking and hiking in the beautiful autumn colours of the mountains.  There’s also an onus on great gastronomy with brunch-inclusive sunset-rides on the Weisshorn gondola.

For cross country skiers the Ilsa trails will be  open daily (including weekdays) whilst for downhill skiers and boarders the chair lift at Hörnli Arosa along with the Weisshorn gondola will serve several open ski runs.

Available over five successive weekends from 29th October through November (until the main ski season starts on 3rd December), packages including two night stays with breakfast and a ski pass cost from CHF 190 (£150) per person at participating hotels.
