Switzerland Giving Away 12,770 Six-Day Kids Ski Passes

Switzerland has launched a promotion for families heading there to ski this winter.

The ‘Kids4free’ initiative gives children aged up to 12 years old the chance to ski and snowboard for free for six days at one of 44 winter sports resorts taking part.

Adults can enter the competition to win a pass for their child on Myswitzerland.com with the competition running to 2nd December 2018.  Winners will be informed by 7th December and can use the 6-day ski pass at any time during the 18/19 winter season, starting 22nd December 2018.

A list of resorts taking part and the number of tickets each has available along with all competition details are on the competition website.

The promotion is reported to have been launched after Switzerland Tourism conducted a winter tourism analysis in collaboration with the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and identified ten opportunities in which to develop the season.

“One of the findings was that a family holiday has an influence on whether kids ski in the future. The aim of Kids4free is to get families excited for winter sports holidays in Switzerland and is an initiative of Switzerland Tourism and the Swiss mountain railways and cable ways,” said Sara Roloff of Switzerland Tourism.

Switzerland already offers some of the most generous child price discounts in Europe, offering tickets at less than half price until teenagers in many cases, then further discounts until adults, whereas in the other main ski nations discounts to age 12 are often less and the full adult price payable from teenage.
