Where To Ski or Board in Austria in July 2017

Austria has eight glacier ski areas and most of the year has more areas open than any other country in the Northern Hemisphere – often, in the late spring and early Autumn, it has more areas open than the other three main Alpine nations combined.

However in July and August the number of Austrian areas open is at its lowest point, with the Kaunertal and Stubai glaciers closing last month after their eight-nine month long 2016-17 season and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier is due to close in July after its even longer season, although it is open through to 23rd July.

But France, Italy and Switzerland are still only just ahead of Austria for most of July, with only five areas open between them, against Austria’s four glacier choices for most of July.

These include the Molltal glacier which re-opened for its 10 month season through to next spring last month and the Hintertux glacier is open year round.  The Dachstein Glacier (video above, picture top) where the superpark team still report the park in great shape, is the fourth Austrian July option.
