Courmayeur, located on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, has always been one of the ski world’s most desirable destinations with its combination of sophistication, mountain culture and superb skiing.

The ski area offers great variety, with plenty of runs for beginners and intermediates to enjoy, as well as the spectacular off piste descents around Mont Blanc, or Monte Bianco and the Aosta Valley, which experts and freeride fans are sure to enjoy.

Take on the world famous Vallee Blanche – accessed by the incredible Skyway Monte Bianco lift, where cable car cabins revolve to allow skiers spectacular views on their journey up the mountain.

One of the best things about Courmayeur is that even in bad weather conditions, you can make the most of the incredible locally-sourced Italian food and wine both on and off the slopes. The locally sourced food is actually that incredible, that multi-starred English chef Heston Blumenthal comes back every year for the local cuisine.

A couple’s favourite is Refugio Christiania, where you can enjoy a low cost, high-quality pizza or calzone oozing with local cheese. Reserve yourself a table or get there early, as it’s a local favourite that gets busy at lunch. You can get here by the Dolonne cable car.

Many locals organise romantic evenings with locally-sourced food. Go to Maison Vieille for traditional food on the mountainside to experience doting, cheerful Italian service. There’s a snowmobile that collects you from the Plan Chécrouit gondola and takes you there, making it an immersive experience – expect dancing on the tables as the night continues!

For a more relaxed evening, you can feel at home at Caffe Della Posta, by the fireplace after a long day’s skiing.

For those after a spot of après-ski, bars such as Bar Roma on the central Via Roma, Bar delle Guide, Bar Americano (don’t miss the cocktails here) and Le Privé are highly recommended.

Late night options in Courmayeur are more limited than some of the Alps’ more party-famous resorts, but you can still find a dancefloor or two. J-Set Club, Planet Disco Bar, Maquis and Jimmy’s Club in nearby Entreves are options to consider here.
