A planning application has been submitted for a first dry ski slope complex for Cornwall.

The proposed Altitude Snow Park would have three dry ski slopes as well as a visitor centre with equipment rentals, restaurant and an outdoor play area.

First announced back in 2018, the centre is proposed for a family-owned farm in the village of Par, close to the coast and a few miles East of the market town of St Austell. Slopes would overlook the sea.

The plans say the facility would feature three slopes, one each for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers and boarders.

On a statement with the planning application, the team behind the proposal state: “We are very keen to be a local facility for the community and local schools and colleges. It is anticipated that this facility will provide high education level training to allow local people access to train for snow sport competitions.”
