After 220+ days of skiing Mammoth Mountain, the last ski area still open in California, will end its 17/18 season this Sunday, June 17th.
The resort is open for skiing and boarding in the mornings only at present before it gets too hot, will giving.
The resort staff will be giving away Mammoth Beanies, coffee and pastries at the base of Face Lift Express [Chair 3] at 7:30am on Sunday to those who make it early for the final day, while supplies last.
Mammoth is one of four North American ski areas currently open. Only Timberline in Oregon, which has a permanent snow field, has stayed continuously open from last autumn 2017. Whistler Blackcomb, which closed in May, has recently re-opened for summer skiing and Beartooth Basin has also opened for summer skiing in Montana.
The good news for Mammoth’s skiers and boarders is that there’s less than five months to wait until 18-19 opening day though, target date Thursday, November 8th.
