Hundreds Of Schools Lose Ski Trip

15 Sep 11

The collapse of Pinnacle Travel, announced yesterday, has left thousands of school children without their school ski trip. It is thought that over 100 schools had already paid in full for ski trips departing this winter. All of the schools affected will be offered a refund and the option of booking with alternative providers.

Andy Burns, Director of school ski trip provider, SkiClass, made the following announcement this morning to reassure those schools, pupils and parents who have been left in the lurch following the announcement by Pinnacle yesterday.

“SkiClass will work closely with ABTA to help resolve the issues created by the collapse of Pinnacle Travel to ensure that teachers, parents and pupils do not suffer any financial losses and are still able to enjoy their skiing trips this winter”.

“SkiClass’s portfolio includes all the winter holiday destinations offered by Pinnacle Travel and by becoming an assignee with ABTA, we will guarantee that schools and pupils will still be able to travel to the ski resorts of their choice”.

“Our aim will be to make the transition as seamless as possible to avoid any additional administrative burden on the schools concerned. For all the schools involved we will strive to deliver the skiing holidays as close as possible to the original trips they booked with Pinnacle Travel”.

To this end we will be setting up a dedicated emergency helpline, which affected schools can call with any queries.  As soon as we have had the opportunity to set this up, the number will be broadcast via the home page of our website atwww.skiclass.co.uk Alternatively anyone concerned can contact us immediately on 01273 647200.”

More information is expected to be released in the coming days, when the true number of those affected is also likely be be announced. Pinnacle Travel is ATOL and ABTA protected.
