The 2018-19 ski season has got underway at Tignes this week, a few weeks after its planned opening.
A statement from the ski area, which unveilled all new cabins on its glacier cable car in a multi-million Euro upgrade at the end of September, said that heroic efforts by resort staff over the past few weeks had enabled them to be able to open some terrain.
However the open terrain is limited and unsuitable for novice skiers. Access for skiers or boarders is allowed in the morning or afternoon only (not a full day), with a discounted rate applicable.

Cervinia in Italy and the Diavolezza glacier are near St Moritz in Switzerland are also scheduled to open this weekend.
In the USA Killington in Vermont will also open as well as Arapahoe Basin and Loveland in Colorado.
