Regulars in Jasná in Slovakia will find three new blue slopes have been created this winter.

Ski route no. 42 Priehyba Jasná, which runs over the southern side of Mt Chopok, has been extended and converted into a new blue ski slope, no. 2b Májová Priehyba–Jasná, while a new connection between Jelení Grúň and the slalom ski slope, no. 12a Jelení Grúň, has been added for less-skilled skiers.

A new downhill slope has also been created on the southern side of Mt Chopok, traversing the ridge and providing easier access to Krupová. Skiers and snowboarders taking this trail will enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the hilly region of Horehronie. By connecting ski routes on Mt Chopok, a 6800m-long ski trail has been created, suitable for families with children. Tatry Mountain Resorts, the company which runs Jasná and other ski areas and water parks, has launched the GoPass, a chip card that not only can be used as your lift pass, but also allows you to rent equipment and claim discounts in the resorts. Accessing GoPass online at gopass.sk also gives you live info on kilometres you’ve skied, altitude covered and whether any lift queues are building up.

FIS World Cup skiing returns to Jasná after 32 years this winter, with women’s giant slalom and slalom races being staged on 5 and 6 March.
