The British artificial slope surface manufacturer Snowflex have built a year-round tubing centre in Wales.
The new ‘Super Tubing’ facility in Ebbw Vale at the Festival Park Shopping Outlet will officially open on 11th August at the South Wales site.
Briton Engineering, the company that make Snowflex, were contracted by Chester Properties Ltd during June and July this year, to design and build the UK’s premier tubing run using their high performance snow sports surface Snowflex®.
Allowing four tubes to run down the slope simultaneously the 120m x 9m wide run has been designed to give maximum thrills to children of all ages, and all in the beautiful setting of the Ebbw Fawr Valley.
In addition to the designing and building the slope Briton also supplied the tubes and installed a Briton QueueDodger® rope tow to assist getting the tubes back to the top of the slope. It is also possible to remove barriers between tubing lanes to create a slope wide enough for skiing or boarding, but this is not planned as part of regular operations.
The facility which will be run by Planning Solutions Ltd has been built alongside a children’s play area and adventure castle as part of a project between Blaenau Gwent Council, The Wales Assembly and Chester Properties under the Heads of the Valley regeneration plan.

In September the lane barriers will be removed and an exhibition of skiing and snowboarding by Wayne Taylor, Andy Nudds and Tyler Harding will also take place to show the people of South Wales what can be done on the Snowflex® slope.
