‘SkiFit’, a new video-based app and online training programme aimed at skiers and snowboarders who are serious about getting fit for their snowsports holiday has been launched by Chamonix-based physiotherapist and clinical expert, Neil Maclean-Martin.

Suitable for all levels of skier, SkiFit offers a series of over 100 high quality exercises specific to snowsports, delivered in 60 minute guided sessions. The eight week training programme is delivered over four phases with the aim of improving strength in key muscles as well as developing flexibility and balance. It can be accessed on the website www.befitapps.com or downloaded on iTunes.

Each session builds on the previous one and consists of a warm up, activation exercises, core work, circuits, coordination exercises and a final stretch down. These sessions should be completed two to three times a week, progressing through the phases as fitness improves.

“Last season I treated over 40 ACL knee injuries amongst a series of other ski and snowboard injuries. After talking with my patients about how they occurred I became convinced that many of them could have been avoided. I introduced my SkiFit classes last season in Chamonix and the feedback was outstanding,” said Neil Maclean-Martin, who has worked for more than fifteen years in the world of elite sport and is a clinical specialist in musculoskeletal sports injuries.

SkiFit costs £4.99 for Phase One or £9.99 for the full programme.
