How To Ski 8 Days On A 7 Night Holiday

Chalets1066 have been such a successful operator in the beautiful French ski resort of Les Gets, part of one of the world’s largest ski areas, that they have now grown by more than 400% in the eight seasons in business to become the biggest accommodation-provider in the resort.

So why so popular? Well being family-run, with the management living in resort and always available when you need them is a big plus point; but Chalets 1066 have also cleverly worked out a way for their guests to enjoy eight days skiing instead of the usual six on a seven night holiday, and you can’t argue with that!

Here’s how it works: You arrive early on a Saturday, leave your bags at the company’s Chalet Hastings having pre-ordered you ski passes from Chalets1066 (they actually have the facilities to make ski passes to order at Chalet Hastings) then you can be straight out on the slopes within half an hour of arrival!  So the Saturday most skiers spend travelling, getting their gear and passes organised and mooching around the resort you’re on the slopes.

If you need to hire equipment Chalet 1066 can arrange for this to be delivered by their partner Ski mobile to arrive when you do.

On the following Saturday when you leave the resort with most operators you would normally have to check out at 10am and go straight to the airport. But with Chalets 1066 you can again leave your bags at Chalet Hastings, have a whole day skiing, have a shower and get changed at Hastings at the end of the day and have your transfer arranged for an evening flight (and Ski Mobile will pick your rental equipment up – you don’t even need to queue to return it).

If you are going to enjoy eight days skiing anywhere there are few better choices than Les Gets. One of the best resorts in the French Alps it has an authentic nature, beautiful scenery, plenty of ambience and a great ski area. You can stay on the friendly local slopes or venture out on a ski safari across the Swiss Border as the ski area is part of the huge Portes du Soleil region offering more than 600km of piste above a dozen resorts on the one pass.

Skiing on Saturdays at the start and end of your holiday you will also have the slopes to yourself as its changeover day for almost everyone else!

Chalets1066 offer a choice of 21 self-catered properties, ranging from economy self-catering  accommodation to the very high-quality but affordably priced Chalet De L’Atray.  The company’s  Le Lapye catered chalet is now No 2 on in Les Gets on TripAdvisor and offers a standard of catering and service for which you’d pay double the price elsewhere.

The company offers additional optional services for self-catered properties including fresh bread and croissants delivery in time for breakfast by the local baker, a chef service and so on.  Most chalets are less than 10 minutes’ walk to the slopes, and quite a few are ski back.
