British Speed Skiing
British Speed skier Jan Farrell concluded his season with some strong skiing in the final World Cup in Grandvalira, Andorra, meaning he finished 9th overall in the World Cup standings. In the three final races, Farrell clocked one 12th place and two 13th places, with his top speed being 192.70 kmph.
GB Park and Pipe
GB Park and Pipe athletes continued their domination of the podiums at The BRITS, as Friday saw the final day of competition in Laax, Switzerland. Friday also saw GB Park and Pipe snowboarder Ben Kilner announce his retirement from international competition following his gold medal in The BRITS Snowboard Halfpipe. Kilner competed in two Winter Olympics – Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014, as well as winning a World Cup halfpipe bronze in Calgary in 2010. Kilner said: “I’m just proud to have had a 19-year career doing something I love, but it is time for me to move onto the next chapter now. Business life is calling me, and my competitive seasons are done. I am sure I will be back at The BRITS, but internationally it is retirement for me.”

At the World Rookie Tour finals in Zell am See/Kaprun six GB Park and Pipe snowboarders were in action. Amber Fennell and Luca Mai Lane Hopkins came 16th and 17th respectively in the ladies Halfpipe Qualifiers, and for the boy’s Halfpipe Qualifiers, Ethan Smith was 23rd with Gabriel Adams 27th , Lewis Hopkinson 30th and Glen Ironside 37th. Unfortunately none of the athletes made it through to the finals.
In the men’s Slopestyle Qualifiers, Billy Cockrell just missed out on a place in the finals finishing in 32nd with 30 athletes going through to finals. Behind Cockrell was Raymond Prentice in 45th, George Waite in 50th, Ethan Smith in 55th, Josh Cook in 64th, Glen Ironside in 71st, Gabriel Adams in 75th , Harry Waite in 78th and Lewis Hopkins in 79th place.

World Junior Freestyle Championships
The final two days of the World Junior Freestyle Championships in Valmalenco, Italy saw eight British skiers tackle the Ski Cross races. With the level of competition high, only Emma Peters and Ollie Davies made it through to the head to head finals. For Davies, who only moved over to Ski Cross at the start of the season, he made it through to the Eight Final, finishing third in the race, just missing out on the next round, and claiming 19th place overall. Emma Peters made it through the qualification, unfortunately getting knocked out at the quarterfinal stage after finishing fourth in the race, placing 16th overall Peters went on to the Italian National Championships in Cervinia rounding off her season with a Silver medal on Saturday.
The other athletes in action were Alannah Lawrie, Claire Winthrop, Zoe Winthrop, Finlay Davies, Matthew Ray and Laurence Willows, but unfortunately they did not make it past the qualification round.
Delancey British Alpine Children’s Championships
The Delancey British National Alpine Children’s Championships concluded last Friday after a hugely successful week of racing. The final day of the Championships saw the Under 16 and Under 14 overall prizes awarded. For the boy’s, Owen Vinter took the U16 combined award after three podium finishes including two wins in the GS and Super G. For the girls, it was Daisi Daniels who took the U16 overall award with three wins from three races, repeating her success of last year. The Under 14 overall titles were taken by Alexa Elliff for the girls and Louis Masquelier-Page for the boys.

Delancey British Alpine Ski Team
Following the Delancey British National Alpine Championships in Tignes, athletes headed over to Val Thorens for the Belgian National Championships, where Cara Brown claimed top spot on the Super G podium, and team mate Jess Anderson finished third. In the Slalom race last Wednesday, Ella Still finished third.
Alex Tilley ventured to Italy for the Val Gardena Slalom FIS races, where she claimed the win in the first race, and second place later that day.
