The world’s highest zip-wire is now officially open above Val Thorens in France.

At 1,300m (just under a mile) long and starting at more than 3,200m above sea level you ride through the air reaching speeds from 65 to 105 km/h!  The 105 second long ride costs 50€, taking you up to 250m above the ground, with the journey designed to mimic that of a flying eagle  connecting the Maurienne-Tarentaise regions.

The zipwire runs from the top of the Bouchet Chair Lift in Orelle to the summit of Val Thorens, still 3000 metres up at the top of the Thorens Funitel.  It is reserved for skiers and boiarders only, who must be aged eight or over and be wearing a helmet.

“The moment I launched myself into the void, my heart was beating like crazy. Then, it was an absolute joy, pure ecstasy in which I saw the mountains like never before,” said 34 year old Thibault, one of the first to try it, “You glide above the landscape with a sense of complete freedom in nature and feel as if you’re not disturbing a thing.”

Ski Collection has a range of special Easter deals for those wanting to give it a try this Easter including seven nights, self-catering at the brand new Koh-i Nor residence from £486 per person including return Eurotunnel crossing with free priority boarding upgrade.
