Work to seal 4km of The Remarkables ski area road in Queenstown, New Zealand is underway as part of its $45 million (NZ) redevelopment of the ski area.

Work on the centre’s new 1.2km Curvey Basin lift, which will begin at the bottom of the expanded learners’ slopes at 1600m and rise to a top terminal at 1900m above sea level, just below the ridgeline at the south head of the Rastus Burn, known as Curvey Basin, is already underway.

Work is expected to take six to eight weeks to complete and marks another important milestone, part of an extensive makeover which includes the installation of the six seater 1.2km Curvey Basin chairlift on the mountain.

“Developments at The Remarkables have been well documented over the summer and we’re right on schedule to have it all ready to go for the beginning of the season,” said Mr Douglas said NZSki GM Sales and Marketing Craig Douglas.

Along with the new road surface and lift, there’ll also be 1.6km of new trails, an expanded learners’ area and increased snowmaking with 52 new hydrants added.
