Fourth 5 Star for Val Thorens

Val Thorens is continuing its move to cater for the upmarket end of the skier market by adding its fourth new 5-star hotel, Le Pashmina this December.

Until a few years ago there was no five star accommodation category in France, with Swiss resorts home to the most luxury hotel with that classification, however since the five star award has been introduced French ski areas now have more in this classification than any other skiing nation, with Courchevel having three times as many such properties as any other resort in France and the whole world.

Le Pashmina has been designed as a luxury mountain refuge by Val Thorens’ pioneers and mountain lovers, the Gorinis.  The hotel will feature 42 bedrooms and suites and a further eight “Cosy Home” apartments and two three bedroom chalet apartments situated in a mountain chalet adjoining the hotel.

Features will include the “Igloo-Pod”, a heated, furnished geodesic dome on the hotel roof that opens out onto the sky so guests can sleep under the stars.

There will be a 400m2 Spa By l’Occitane and two restaurants, “Les Explorateurs” and “Le Base Camp” offer gourmet cuisine created by chefs Romuald Fassenet (‘Best craftsman in France’ award) and Josselin Jean-blanc.

Junior Suite rates from 255 euros per night, per person on half-board
