The Chill Factore indoor snow centre near Manchester is reported to be up for sale.

The complex, which opened six years ago at a cost of £33 million, is reported to be on the market for £25 million.

Chill Factore, operates what is marginally the UK’s longest indoor real snow slope at 180 metres,  has received around seven million visitors since opening shortly before the economic crash.

The centre is one of six currently operating in the UK and one of more than 50 worldwide.  The British centres include Tamworth, which is one of the world’s oldest operating for two decades.

The UK, Germany and the Netherlands equally operate the most centres by country, with six each.  Recently several Dutch centres have changed ownership and in Germany a large new centre  close to Hamburg, Hannover and Bremen financed by the Austrian ski resort of Solden was closed unexpectedly last March due to financial issues.  It now plans to re-open with reduced staff and lower operating costs thanks to a new snowmaking system this winter.
