The chance to experience the adventure of hut to hut ski touring with mountain and avalanche safety expert, Henry of Henry’s Avalanche Talks and Henry’s Off-Piste is available this week.

Between May 1st and 4th 2014, Henry Schniewind, the mountain safety expert based in Val d’Isère will be hosting his regular introduction to ski touring for skiers with off-piste experience.

Two nights will be spent in comfortable mountain huts located in the Vanoise National Park, well away from any ski lifts and pistes.

The skiing itself can vary depending on the conditions, from powder to spring ‘corn’, with skiers often experiencing powder at the top and spring snow at the bottom of the run.

The emphasis will be on safety, fun and finding some great snow to enjoy at the very end of the winter ski season.

The group will include a maximum of six people plus the guide (Henry). The route will take in several summits that are accessed on skins with special touring skis, but there’s no requirement for any previous ski touring experience.

“We do the introduction to ski touring course every spring and it’s become one of the best weeks of the entire winter,” says Henry, “Everyone enjoys the variety of terrain and the adventure of staying out right in the mountains. As long as you can ski reasonably well off-piste, you’ll have a great time on this trip and learn all about ski touring.”

The course includes two nights in Val d’Isère and two in mountain huts.  The cost per person includes 495 Euros per person for the guide and safety gear rental,  180 Euros per person for the two nights full board ion the mountain huts and touring gear rental costs approximately 145 Euros per person for four days.  The prices does not include accommodation in Val d’Isère, lift pass or drinks in the huts.
