Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado has announced a new high speed quad chairlift, the Kokomo Express, will be installed this summer.

The Colorado resort is also to install RFID (radio-frequency identification technology) ticketing and lift access gates and will build North America’s longest alpine coaster yet, to be known as the Rocky Mountain Coaster.

The existing Kokomo lift, well known for servicing Copper’s beginner terrain, will be replaced by the  new Doppelmayr high speed quad. The new lift will be extended to begin 215 feet downhill from the existing footprint for easier access from Copper’s West Village and have a ride time of just 4 minutes.

At 5,800 feet, the Rocky Mountain Coaster, which will be open year round, will be the longest alpine coaster in North America. With a vertical drop of 430 feet on an average grade of 10.9 percent, the Rocky Mountain Coaster will provide an exciting activity in both the summer and winter months

“The future is extremely bright for Copper, these strategic capital improvements will enhance our product offerings and truly elevate the year-round guest experience,” said Gary Rodgers, President and General Manager of Copper Mountain Resort.
