Verbier has long been on the “must ski” bucket list of all keen skiers and snowboarders. Although the popularity of this famous Swiss resort has soared, finding affordable accommodation and many other aspects of a successful Verbier holiday have become more challenging.

Sisters Melissa Brownlow and Camilla Benham-Crosswell set up Mountain Beds in 1992, 25 years ago after Melissa had worked for five seasons in chalets in the resort. “To my surprise, it was an overnight success and we were busy from day one. Now 25 years have flown by and it’s just the same,” says Melissa, who adds that they have resisted the temptation to make Mountain Beds a bigger company, in order to retain the all-important personal touch, which sees around 80% repeat business.
Over the years, Mountain Beds have worked with nearly every agent, hotel, chalet company and lots of private owners in Verbier and is happy to help them find the best holiday for their group and budget.
The company has expanded in one way though; it now offers help to book accommodation in any leading resort, not just Verbier, through a network of long-standing, trusted partners, built up over the years.
“Verbier has changed almost beyond recognition since I first arrived in the mid-1980s,” says Melissa. “In most ways, it’s for the better; the lifts in particular have greatly improved, and the long queues that used to be a regular feature have long since gone.
