It’s all about the number in the Alps (and other ski regions of Europe) at the moment if you’re looking in envy from outside.

If you’re lucky enough to be on the slopes you’re hopefully just enjoying all the fresh powder.

Since the snow started falling at the weekend resorts in France, Switzerland and Italy have now accumulated up to 50cm of fresh snow so far.  The forecasts are for the snow to keep falling, with 50-80cm more forecast fore many areas over the next 72 hours.

Verbier, pictured above, is one of the resorts to report more than a foot of fresh snow in the last 24 hours alone (Crans Montana, Meribel and Serre Chevalier also have).

There’s been snow, if not so much so far, in other areas of the Alps and the Pyrenees.

Big snowfalls are also forecast for the Balkans over the next few days with up to 50cm forecast in Bulgaria.
