25 Swiss resorts on the western side of the country have joined together to offer a joint season pass at a low price – little more than the cost of a regular 6 day pass at any one of them (and less than a 6 day pass costs at a few top Swiss resorts).
The Magic Pass is currently on sale priced at 359 Francs for adults and 249 Francs for children. There are limited numbers of the passes available according to a press release, but it is not known how limited.
The launch of the pass, a Swiss first, appears to be following a business model currently popular in North America where groups of resorts offer a joint pass at a relatively low cost. Some commentators say it may also be a response to Saas Fee’s successful low cost season pass offer.
Internationally well known resorts including in the pass include Crans-Montana, Leysin and Les Diablerets although a surcharge of 200 francs is payable to ski the Glacier 3000 ski area above Les Diablerets.
The participating ski regions said today’s skiers were nomads, who liked to visit ski in different regions over the winter months. The pass offered a flexibility never seen before to try out different areas.
